Fikcio Monger, the live-electronic project of Šibenik musician Mirko Rak, performs at Kamene priče with trumpeter Ivo Jerkunica.

The live session brings together organic house, downtempo, jazz and electronics performed live. Mirko Rak builds rhythms, layers and transitions in front of the audience, while Ivo Jerkunica responds to changes in the set with trumpet improvisations.

Electronic music performed live

Fikcio Monger is Mirko Rak's original project. Rak is also known as the frontman of the Šibenik electro-fusion group The Fogsellers. His set is not simply the playback of a finished studio track. Electronic equipment and organic instruments become performance material, allowing the pulse of house and downtempo to change through repetition, cuts, added layers and responses to the room.

Rak used this approach before Bonobo's concert at St Michael's Fortress in Šibenik, where he combined organic and electronic instruments. In Bale he is joined by Ivo Jerkunica, a trumpeter and music educator with experience in jazz, small ensembles and big-band programmes. The trumpet is not an ornament placed over an electronic backing track, but a second live voice that can carry the melody, answer the rhythm or lead the improvisation in a new direction.

A live session in the jazz tavern

Kamene priče keeps the audience close to the musicians, which suits music that changes as it is being played. Rather than following a sequence of rigidly separated pieces, the evening develops through transitions and a dialogue between Rak's electronics and Jerkunica's trumpet.
