Pula Film Festival: Kako je počeo rat na mom otoku on Wednesday, 15 July
Wednesday, 15.07.2026. 21:15. h
On Wednesday, the Arena programme returns to Kako je počeo rat na mom otoku, with the late slot reserved for the Grand Golden Arena for Best Film.
The Arena programme on Wednesday centres on Kako je počeo rat na mom otoku, shown in Pula in the year marking the film’s thirtieth anniversary. The late Arena slot is kept for the winning film.
A Pula classic returns to the Arena
Vinko Brešan’s Kako je počeo rat na mom otoku is not just another repertory title in Croatian cinema. The Arena screening matters because the film has lived for decades through its lines, comic rhythm and the way it turned the beginning of war into a sharp, widely recognised black comedy. At the same time, the day is not built only around one nostalgic screening. Kino Valli continues with Crna truba, Vjetre, pričaj sa mnom, Žene, luđaci i malo dobrih pedera and Bog neće pomoći, while Ambrela has Kino 15+. The late Arena term leaves room for the festival’s winning film.
Screening schedule
Wednesday works both for visitors who want one large Arena screening and for those who want to close the festival through awarded or shortlisted titles.
