Bel Canto Italiano in Fort Forn brings an evening of Italian arias and canzones performed by tenor Zoran Tomaić and pianist Sandro Vešligaj.

The program includes authors from Alessandro Scarlatti, Claudio Monteverdi and Georg Friedrich Händel to Francesco Paolo Tosti, Stanislav Gastaldon, Gaetano Lama, E. A. Mari, Rodolfo Falvo and Eduardo Di Capua.

From early bel canto to cancona

The evening is not just a series of well-known melodies. The range of authors shows a transition from older vocal styles towards the Italian canzone, where the technical clarity of singing meets a melody that seeks a direct emotional response.

The tenor and piano format leaves little room to hide behind the production. The voice, text, phrase and accompaniment carry the whole evening, which gives the program a chamber character and a closeness that a large concert line-up cannot have.
