Goldoni Today at Fort Forno: Am I Your Thing?
Thursday, 13.08.2026. 21:00. h
The Hellequin theatre company from Pordenone performs Goldoni Today at Fort Forno, under the title Am I Your Thing? - women, masks and music.
The performance takes place on Thursday, 13 August 2026, at 21:00. It is a commedia dell’arte performance in Italian, dramatized, adapted and directed by Ferruccio Merisi.
Goldoni, masks and women's voices
Goldoni here is not only the name of a classic author from textbooks, but a starting point for a play with mask, body, music and women's voices. The title Am I Your Thing? immediately opens the question of how a woman is treated on stage: as a character, an object of the gaze, the bearer of comedy or someone who takes control of the rhythm of the game. Commedia dell’arte asks for quick reaction, physical precision and acting economy; the mask does not hide the actor, it demands clearer movement and sharper energy. That is why it matters that this performance comes from a Pordenone tradition of work with commedia, where Goldoni's material is not preserved as a museum object but tested through live stage practice. Music in the title points to a performance in which rhythm, voice and movement stand alongside the text, while the Italian language remains part of the theatrical material itself. Audiences do not need specialist knowledge of Goldoni to follow the relationship between mask, female character and comic tension.
Creative team and language
Dramatization, adaptation and direction are by Ferruccio Merisi. The cast includes Lucia Zaghet, Giulia Colussi and Daria Sadov. The performance is in Italian, a useful detail for visitors who want to follow the textual layer together with the physical play of commedia dell’arte.
Fort Forno as a stage space
At Fort Forno the performance has a different frame from a traditional theatre hall: open air, stone and evening light suit work based on mask, body and a direct front-facing relationship with the audience. The performance is part of Bembo Fest.
Accommodation in Bale
For Goldoni Today at Fort Forno, Bale is the closest quiet base: from the centre of Bale to the fort there are about 8 kilometres, roughly 12 minutes by car, so the return after the performance is quick and away from coastal traffic. See the offer here: accommodation in Bale.
