9th International Guitar Competition Bale-Valle "Live Guitar"

In the Istrian town of Bale, this year marks the 9th edition of the Bale‑Valle “Live Guitar” International Guitar Competition. This event brings together gifted guitarists from Croatia and abroad and offers a rich program with multiple categories.
From July 4 to 6, 2025, Tomaso Bembo Square will transform into a stage for the competitors’ concert evenings, enriching the special atmosphere of this year’s Bale‑Valle Armonica Guitar Festival.

Classical/Electric Guitar
Classical guitar, often called the Spanish guitar, is known for its nylon strings that produce a warm, rich tone, commonly used in classical music and flamenco.
Electric guitar, developed in the early 20th century, uses electronic amplification and is indispensable in rock, blues, and pop music.
Celtic/Classical Harp
Celtic/Classical Harp
The Celtic harp, smaller and with a gentle, melodic sound, has been part of Celtic musical tradition for centuries.
The classical harp, frequently used in orchestras and solo performances, offers a wider tonal range and a more complex pitch-altering mechanism.
Violin and Accordion

The violin, prized for its versatility and rich dynamic range, holds a central place in classical, folk, and contemporary music.
The accordion, known for its distinctive sound from free reeds, spans a wide range of genres from classical to traditional and popular music.
Chamber Music
Chamber Music
Chamber music, which developed in the 17th century, is performed by small ensembles without a conductor. Each musician plays their own part, fostering communication, cohesion, and collaboration among performers.

Competition Details
Categories are organized by age groups, while soloists may compete with no age limit.
A total prize fund of €15,000 further encourages participants to give their best and showcase their musical skills.
