Lim Channel: sport climbing above the bay

Climbing at Lim spans five sectors above the sea. Your choice of sector determines the approach, route length and, in summer, when you can climb in shade.

On the northern side of Lim Bay, routes follow slabs and cracks in grey and reddish limestone, with occasional small overhangs. Sector choice matters when planning a day: the shorter routes at Horoskop differ markedly from the long lines at Šimije, where some exceed 40 metres. Rope length and the amount of equipment must suit the chosen route and allow a safe descent.

Getting to your sector

Road access is from the northern side of the bay, via Medaki towards Vrsar. Parking areas and walking approaches differ between sectors, so navigation should lead to the chosen crag rather than simply to the bay.

Seasons and summer shade

Milder temperatures from autumn to spring give climbers more freedom to choose routes. Summer requires closer timing: Krugi has morning shade, while Gavranik, Šimije and Kloštar fall into shade in the late afternoon.
