Rovinj Market at Valdibora: fish market, stalls and prices
Buy fruit, vegetables and fish at Rovinj's Valdibora market. The food sections open throughout the year, with souvenir stalls joining them in summer.
You can visit Rovinj Market while exploring the old town, on its northern side by Valdibora harbour. Nearby is the Antonio Gandusio Theatre, whose building once housed a fish market and butcher's shop.
Food sections and seasonal stalls
Fruit and vegetables are sold in the produce section, fish in a separate fish market, and regional food products in another designated area. These sections operate throughout the year, so you can shop for food outside the tourist season too.
In summer, stalls open selling shells, paintings, jewellery and ceramics. Two separate kiosks in this part of the market operate year-round, unlike the seasonal stalls.
Prices and shopping while staying in Bale
We would not make Rovinj Market our first choice for a budget-conscious main shop during the tourist season. With fruit in particular, pay attention to the price per kilo and the total for the quantity you choose. A market setting does not mean that every seller offers produce from their own farm or prices below those in shops.
For a larger market shop while staying in Bale, we prefer Pula's Merkat, with its fish market and outdoor tables around the central building. Rovinj Market is convenient if you are already visiting the town and want to buy something for that day.
