Cattunar Winery: 4 Terre Malvasia and guided tastings
At Cattunar Winery in Nova Vas near Brtonigla, Istrian Malvasia grown on four different soil types is vinified separately for the 4 Terre project. Visitors can compare the resulting wines during a guided tasting and cellar tour, with advance booking.
Four soils and four separately vinified Malvasias
Grey soil lies at the Žmergo vineyard site, black at Škrinjari, red at Grum and white at Škarlina. Since 2010, grapes from each site have been vinified separately, allowing a direct comparison of wines made from the same variety in different vineyards. Malvasia 4 Terre Black Soil 2025 received gold and 92 points at World of Malvasia 2026, while Muscat Rose 2022 earned gold and 93 points at Vinistra 2026.
What the tasting programmes include
The shorter Cattunar programme lasts 60 minutes and includes four wines without food. The 90-minute programmes differ by selection: 4 Terre covers Malvasias from four soils, Istria focuses on native varieties, Your Choice allows guests to select six wines from the current range, and Vintage features aged wines and one wine from the archive.
The longer programmes include estate extra virgin olive oil and a platter of Istrian products. Every tasting includes a guided cellar tour, while the 90-minute formats require a minimum booking of two people.
