San Tommaso Winery: Malvasia and Teran from Golaš
San Tommaso is a family winery in Golaš, around eight minutes by car from Bale. Its cellar produces Malvasia, Teran and Merlot, while tastings and tours are arranged in advance.
From Malvasia Istriana to mature Merlot
The Debeljuh family farms around 20 hectares of vineyards. Malvasia Istriana accounts for the largest share, alongside Teran, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat Blanc. The range spans sparkling and rosé wines, fresh and more mature whites, fuller-bodied reds and Muscat.
At the 2026 Vinistra Wine & Spirit Awards, the 2021 Teran received 93 points and a gold medal. Merlot Reserva 2016 also won gold, with 92 points.
The Debeljuh family estate
Janja and Boris Debeljuh founded the winery in 2008. Their son David is now increasingly involved in the cellar. Most of the vineyards lie close to Golaš, around an estate associated with grape growing and winemaking for more than 150 years.
The property includes a tasting room, cellar and small ethnographic collection of objects once used in Istrian wine cellars. Wines can be purchased directly at the winery.
How to arrange a tasting
Tastings and guided cellar tours are available by prior arrangement. Local prosciutto and cheese can be served alongside the wines. Before travelling, confirm the date and time, language, number of wines, food pairing and group size by email, especially outside the main season.
