Medea Winery in Vodnjan: wines and guided tastings

Medea Winery makes wines from Malvasia, Teran and international varieties in Vodnjan. Three ByIstria programmes pair the wines with Istrian bites.

Istrian Malvasia, Teran and other Medea wines

The range includes Istrian Malvasia, Chardonnay, rosé, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Feran made from Teran, and Medea Brut, a sparkling wine made from Malvasia. Istrian Malvasia and Merlot account for the largest share of the vineyards; Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Teran are grown on smaller plots.

Vineyards and the cellar in Vodnjan

The grapes come from 60 hectares of vineyards around Medulin and Pula. Both native Istrian and international varieties are vinified in the Vodnjan cellar, which covers 1,000 square metres and has a capacity of about 400,000 litres.

What is included in a guided tasting

ByIstria offers three guided programmes. ByIstria Draft pairs Malvasia, Teran and rosé with cold Istrian bites and Salvela olive oil. ByIstria Wine Experience includes Medea Brut, Montiron Malvasia and two other wines of your choice. Medea Summer Vibes includes Chardonnay, rosé and an Ora d'Oro Spritz with Istrian bites.

Each tasting lasts 60 to 90 minutes and can be held in Croatian, English or French. The programme can be adapted on request, and every guided tasting must be arranged in advance.
