Olive grower Flavio Kmet has a grove of about 1,100 trees in Seget near Umag. To find out whether his olive oil can be bought or tasted in Seget, send an email before making the trip.
The grove lies at about 55 metres above sea level. It has expanded from the 800 trees recorded earlier to around 1,100. Which oils are available may change with each harvest.
An olive grove in the hinterland of Umag
Seget is a small settlement in north-western Istria, just inland from Umag. If you are looking for oil from a particular variety or the current harvest, it is worth checking what is available before you buy.
From his own grove to the Maslinari Istre cooperative
Kmet's work also extends beyond his own grove. He took part in establishing the Maslinari Istre agricultural cooperative and, in December 2024, was chair of its assembly. The cooperative produces Konfin extra virgin olive oil bearing the Istra Protected Designation of Origin. Konfin is a joint product of the cooperative, not the name of Kmet's oil.
