OPG Bodiš, organic extra virgin olive oil and honey from southern Istria

Ana and Nikola Bodiš planted their first olive trees in 2006. Today, they farm 14 hectares with 4,500 trees, make two organic blends and continue a beekeeping tradition that has been in the family for four generations.

From the first trees to five sites

The groves are spread across Pomer, Medulin, Šišan, Veli Vrh and Vodnjan. The olives have been grown organically since 2012, with Istarska Buža, Istarska Bjelica, Leccino, Pendolino and Rosignola among the cultivars.

Magran and Vernale, blends from two sites

Magran is a blend of Leccino, Pendolino and Rosignola. It has milder bitterness and pungency, with notes of artichoke, green tomato and wild chicory. Vernale combines Istarska Buža, Istarska Bjelica, Leccino and Pendolino, with more pronounced bitterness and pungency and an almond note.

Olive groves and 240 bee colonies

Beekeeping has been part of the Bodiš family for four generations. The farm now keeps 240 colonies, which winter in the olive groves of southern Istria; in the warmer months, some are moved to other forage sites in Istria and Gorski kotar. The honey available depends on the season and the weather.

Scores, awards and pick-up in Pula

Flos Olei: 89 points in 2024, 91 in 2025 and 92 in 2026.

In 2025, Bodiš took Gold in the organic category at Berlin GOOA, Gourmet Gold at AVPA Paris and Gold at Amsterdam IOOC. It was also named champion in the organic extra virgin olive oil category at the fifth Pula olive oil competition. In 2026, Bodiš won Gold at the NYIOOC and retained the Pula title at the sixth edition of the competition.
