Ol Istria: Agrolaguna olive oils and tastings in Poreč
Agrolaguna produces extra virgin olive oils from its own groves under the Ol Istria name. The olives are processed in the company's own mill, while tastings and sales take place at Festigia Taste & Shop in Poreč. Check arrangements before visiting.
Seven single-varietal oils and two blends
The Ol Istria range includes single-varietal Ascolana, Črnica, Istarska bjelica, Leccino, Pendolino, Picholine and Rošinjola oils. Ol Istria Extra Virgin and Selection are blends of oils from several cultivars.
A useful tasting order is to compare several single-varietal oils first, followed by Selection. This makes it easier to compare the character of one cultivar with a blend. Availability varies with the harvest and stock.
Own mill and the Istra PDO
Agrolaguna processes olives from its groves around Poreč shortly after harvest, using cold extraction in its own mill. The oil is stored in stainless steel tanks.
Some Ol Istria oils carry the Istra Protected Designation of Origin, or PDO. It certifies that the oil bearing it meets defined rules for origin and production. The PDO applies to the specific oil, not automatically to the entire range, so check the label when buying.
Tastings and sales at Festigia Taste & Shop
Festigia Taste & Shop is Agrolaguna's tasting room and shop at Mate Vlašića 34 in Poreč. Alongside Ol Istria oils, it offers Festigia and Vina Laguna wines and Špin cheeses. The tasting hall can accommodate groups of 20 to 80 people. Private events can also be arranged, and free parking is available.
If you also want to see the production site, ask specifically, as a mill tour is not listed as a regular part of a visit. The 8am to 4pm opening hours apply to the administration, not the tasting room. As no current opening schedule for Festigia Taste & Shop is published, send an enquiry and wait for confirmation before setting out.
Flos Olei and NYIOOC results
Ol Istria scored 88 out of 100 in the 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions of the Flos Olei guide, following scores of 90 in the 2021 and 2022 editions.
Ol Istria Extra Virgin won Gold at the NYIOOC in 2024, 2025 and 2026. The Picholine and Selection labels won Gold in 2024 and 2025. These awards apply only to the labels and years named, not to the entire Ol Istria range.
