Ol Istria: extra virgin olive oils and a tasting room in Poreč
Open. Closes at 20:00.
Ol Istria links Agrolaguna’s olive groves, its own mill and a tasting room in Poreč. Here, two blends can be compared with seven single-varietal oils.
From a mild blend to peppery Istarska bjelica
The main Ol Istria blend is mild and balanced. Selection has more pronounced green fruitiness, bitterness and pepperiness, so the contrast is clear even before moving on to single-varietal oils.
The single-varietal range shows how much the profile changes with the olive. Ascolana recalls ripe tomato and apple, Picholine green olives and nutty notes, while Istarska bjelica has a stronger peppery finish. Pendolino, Leccino, Rošinjola and Črnica add four more distinct varietal profiles. Tasting them side by side makes the differences in aroma, bitterness and pepperiness easier to recognise.
From the groves to Agrolaguna’s own mill
Agrolaguna grows around 65,000 olive trees on 220 hectares spread across five sites in western Istria. Once picked, the olives promptly reach the company’s mill for cold extraction. The oil is then stored in stainless-steel tanks under controlled conditions. Ol Istria oils carry the Istra protected designation of origin.
Results across several harvests
The Ol Istria profile in the Flos Olei guide scored 90 out of 100 in the 2021 and 2022 editions, followed by 88 points in every edition from 2023 to 2026.
The main Ol Istria blend won Gold at the NYIOOC in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Selection and Picholine both received Gold Awards in 2024 and 2025.
Tasting at Festigia Taste & Shop
Finished oils can be compared before purchase at Festigia Taste & Shop in Poreč, away from the production mill. Alongside Ol Istria oils, the shop carries Festigia and Vina Laguna wines and Špin cheeses. The tasting room therefore presents Agrolaguna’s olive oil, wine and cheese production together.
Free parking is available beside the shop. For a guided side-by-side tasting or a private event, arrange a time directly with the tasting room.
