In Farnažine, Cuj makes single-varietal Črna, Buža and Bjelica and the Selekcija blend. Full Experience includes a cellar tour, five wines and two oils.
Črna, Buža, Bjelica and Selekcija
At Farnažine near Umag, 800 olive trees grow in terra rossa soil at around 100 metres above sea level. The estate cultivates Buža, Crnica, Istarska bjelica, Frantoio, Karbonaca and Casaliva. Production is certified organic, and the oils carry the Istra protected designation of origin.
Črna combines green olive, grass and almond on the nose with olive and apple on the palate, followed by moderate bitterness and pungency. Buža leans towards almond and hazelnut, with bitterness and pungency in balance. Bjelica is more assertive: green olive, cut grass, tomato leaf and green almond move from gentle bitterness to a pungent finish.
The Kraljević family and its own olive mill
The Kraljević family has developed the estate in its present form since the 1990s and built a new wine cellar and olive mill in 2006. Wine production and olive processing have since shared the same estate.
Cuj received 93 points in the 2022 edition of Flos Olei, 94 in the 2024 edition and 96 in the 2025 edition. It was named best olive mill at Zagreb’s ninth Olive Festival in 2024. The award is based on the scores of oils processed at each mill.
Full Experience: five wines and two oils
Olive oil is not included in every programme. Full Experience comprises a guided tour of the wine cellar, five wines and two extra virgin olive oils. It lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, accommodates two to 20 people and is not a private tasting.
The programme is offered in Croatian, English, Italian and Russian. Istrian cured meats, cheese and olives can be added by arrangement, and parking is available on the estate.
