Chamango: Buža, a multi-varietal oil and gold awards

Chamango is the oil brand of Marija and Slaviša Srdić. A young grove of Buža, Istrian bjelica and rosinjola builds on three golds from Vodice and Zagreb.

The grove and Chamango’s direction

Chamango is now developing from a young grove of 400 Buža, Istrian bjelica and rosinjola trees. The aim is to gradually build high-quality single-varietal oils and blends from these traditional Istrian varieties, using a contemporary approach.

Multi-varietal oil and single-varietal Buža

In Vodice in 2023, a multi-varietal extra virgin olive oil and a single-varietal Buža oil were judged. The multi-varietal oil was milled at Grubić in Bale, while the Buža oil was milled at San Antonio. Chamango is the producer and brand, while those two mills handled the processing. It has not been confirmed whether both products remained available after 2023.

Golds in Vodice in 2023 and Zagreb in 2025

The multi-varietal oil scored 94.05 points in Vodice, winning gold and placing 21st. The single-varietal Buža scored 92.15 points and also received gold.

At the 10th Zagreb Olive Festival in 2025, Chamango received another gold medal. The official result gives neither a cultivar nor a score, so the award cannot be assigned to either of the 2023 oils.

The results apply to the oils entered in those editions, not to the current range.

Buying and visiting

A retail outlet, tastings, a visitor address and opening hours have not been publicly confirmed. A visit should therefore not be planned without arranging it directly with the producer.
