Stone sculptures near Bale: Boulevard World Genius

Stone sculptures honouring notable figures stand along the road from Bale to the sea. Students from six art academies created the works.

Five kilometres from the roundabout towards the coast

The series begins at the roundabout outside the town and extends for five kilometres to Mon Perin campsite. The sculptures stand beside the road, among oak and strawberry trees.

A collaboration between six academies

Mon Perin launched the project, in which young sculptors worked alongside their teachers. Students from academies in Turin, Venice, Milan, Bologna, Rijeka and Zagreb took part. They carved the monumental sculptures from single blocks of Istrian stone.

Leonardo da Vinci and Nikola Tesla were the first figures chosen for symbolic tributes. The series also includes works dedicated to Marie Curie, Nelson Mandela, Hypatia and Walt Disney.
