Restaurant Viking: oysters and fresh fish by Lim Bay

At Viking, Lim Bay oysters and dondole come raw on ice, followed by fresh grilled or fried fish. The Matošević family has run the restaurant since 1964, and tables should be booked ahead at weekends and in high season.

Lim Bay oysters and raw dondole, large clams also known as vongole, are served on ice. Before reaching the table, the shellfish undergo depuration in controlled conditions.

Langoustine and asparagus risotto, homemade pasta with seafood sauces, and fresh fish from the grill or fryer can follow the shellfish. The pasta also comes with meat sauces for diners who are not ordering fish or shellfish.

From four tables to the name Viking

Marčela and Alfio Matošević started in 1964 with four tables and eight chairs, when the restaurant was called Gostionica. After The Long Ships was filmed in Lim Bay, guests began calling the place Viking, and the family adopted the name in 1965. Their son Vili took over in 1991. In 2024, the family marked 60 years in business.

Roberto Rojnić has managed the service for more than three decades. Gault&Millau Croatia awarded the kitchen 15/20 in its 2026 guide and gave Rojnić the trophy for restaurant management and service.

When to book a table

Book ahead for weekends and high season. The restaurant has private parking, wheelchair access and welcomes pets.
