Laguna Beach in Stella Maris near Umag

Pebbly Laguna beside Umag’s ATP stadium has a gentle entry into the sea. A bridge crosses the mouth of the rounded bay.

Pebbles, shallow water and pine shade

Laguna lies in the southern part of Stella Maris, around three kilometres from the centre of Umag. The rounded bay below the Goran Ivanišević ATP stadium offers swimming along a developed shoreline, with places to eat and tennis courts close by.

You enter the sea over pebbles, while concrete sunbathing areas line parts of the shore. The gentle slope suits families spending time in the shallows. Pines grow around the bay, although stretches beside the water are in the sun. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire, and the beach has showers, toilets and changing cubicles.

Laguna and Osmica Beach farther north are separate swimming spots. Osmica has a sandy seabed in the shallows and the nearby Capitano pool with its pirate ship. The pool is for guests of Amfora and Stella apartments, so day visitors to Laguna should not count it among the facilities available to everyone.

Getting to Stella Maris and spending the day

Savudrijska ulica runs along the eastern side of the lagoon. The waterfront path follows the bay and continues over the bridge across its western opening. Parking is available near the beach, alongside separate car parks for accommodation guests.

Restaurants and bars beside the lagoon make it possible to combine swimming with a meal without heading into central Umag. The stadium surroundings also host tennis events and festivals. Sea Star took place here in May 2026, so Stella Maris is not a resort to choose on the assumption of constant quiet.

Bathing water quality in the 2026 season

At the Laguna ispod aquagana sampling point, all ten tests between 19 May and 22 September 2026 received an excellent rating. The annual rating for 2026 and the four-year rating for 2023–2026 were also excellent. These results concern the microbiological quality of the sampled seawater, not a guarantee of swimming safety or conditions every day.
