Valkane Beach in Pula: swimming beside Lungomare

Valkane is a city beach in Pula with pebbled and paved sections. Lungomare continues from the bay towards Gortanova Bay and Valsaline.

Swimming in the bay and walking beside the pines

Choose the pebbled part of the bay for swimming or the paved waterfront for sunbathing. Beyond this developed city beach, the coast along Lungomare is naturally rocky.

Pine woodland borders the coastal road and its pavement. You can walk on to neighbouring swimming spots without returning through the city centre.

Sea access for visitors with reduced mobility

Part of the beach has adapted access. In July 2026, the Society of Physically Disabled Persons of Southern Istria warned that the design of the water entry limits the use of JOB beach wheelchairs, which require another person's assistance. It also reported frequent breakdowns of the sea-access hoist.
