Pineta or Kastanija Beach in Novigrad: two bays beside the pines
Pineta, also called Kastanija, has two bays with rock and pebbles in Novigrad. A coastal path brings walkers and cyclists from Karpinjan.
Rocky stretches and pebbly entry points
On Novigrad’s northwestern coast, you can choose between natural rocks, flat stone areas and smaller stretches of pebbles for swimming. Water shoes are useful on the rocky sections.
The denser belt of pines is in the western part of the area. Beside the eastern bay, open grassy areas also lie between the road and the sea, so shade is uneven along the shore.
The coastal path and parking
Pineta extends northwest of Karpinjan Beach. A coastal path connects the two bathing areas for walkers and cyclists. Karpinjan has a pebble shore and a wider stretch of shallow water, offering another choice if you prefer that kind of beach.
Drivers approach along Kastanija road. Beside the eastern bay, a long gravel parking area lies on the inland side of the road, which you need to cross to reach the shore. Kastanija is in parking zone four. From 1 April to 31 October 2026, parking costs €1 per hour and a 24-hour ticket costs €7. These rates cover parking, not beach admission.
