Girandella Beach, Rabac

Girandella belongs to a different side of Istria: the east coast, where the land drops more steeply towards Kvarner and the view reaches across the sea to Cres. A swim here naturally becomes part of a full day in Rabac and Labin.

Pebbles, rocks and paved sections alternate along a promenade in Rabac’s managed holiday zone. Sunbeds, small craft and other facilities are mainly seasonal, partly charged and may be connected with nearby hotel complexes. Girandella is a lively, organised stretch of coast where several hours pass easily.

Underwater life at the end of the promenade

A marked snorkelling route begins beside two smaller pebble beaches and a rocky reef. When the sea is calm, crevices, algae-covered surfaces and marine life can be observed along the rocks, with the care required by the open east coast.

Rabac and old Labin in one day

The drive from Bale takes about 70 minutes. A morning or afternoon at Girandella pairs naturally with old Labin, the historic hill town above Rabac. The sea, the view towards Cres and Labin’s stone streets give the outing enough substance for a full day on the other side of the peninsula.
