Monte Beach in Rovinj: Baluota and the rocky shore
At Monte you swim beside Rovinj’s old town, along a rocky shore without natural shade. Baluota is one part of this coast, with access over the rocks.
The bathing shore lies on the western side of Rovinj’s old peninsula, below St Euphemia’s Church.
Baluota, Lanterna and Gugulijera
The whole stretch is about 150 metres long and comprises several smaller bathing spots. Baluota, also marked as Balota on maps, and Lanterna are rocky sections where you climb down over the rocks to enter the sea. These parts are better suited to adult swimmers. Small and Big Gugulijera are smaller bathing spots more suitable for children.
Reaching the shore through the old town
You reach the shore on foot or by bicycle. Motor traffic is not allowed through the old town, so cars stay outside it. There is no natural shade on the shore for resting between swims.
