Slatina Beach in Opatija: concrete sunbathing areas by the centre
Slatina is Opatija’s main bathing area beside the Lungomare. Concrete terraces dominate, with a small sandy space for games and sunbathing.
The bathing area stretches below Ulica Maršala Tita, in front of Hotel Palace Bellevue. The sandy space beside the concrete terraces is also used for volleyball, and there is a children’s playground nearby.
Walking from town and parking
You can reach the bathing area from the town’s coastal promenade. From Slatina, the Lungomare continues towards the Maiden with the Seagull and Angiolina Park in Opatija.
If you are coming by car, the Slatina garage is nearby, by Hotel Galeb. Parking is charged.
Winter swimming with Opatijski kukali
Slatina is a meeting place for Opatijski kukali, a winter-swimming club. Visitors from several European countries joined their traditional New Year’s swim at noon on 1 January 2026.
Sea water quality at Slatina’s middle and end
The 2026 annual water quality rating for the Kupalište Slatina, sredina sampling point was excellent. At Kupalište Slatina, kraj, the annual rating under Croatian criteria was good. At that point, the sample taken on 29 June was sufficient and the one taken on 13 July was good.
The latest samples at both points, taken on 21 September 2026, were excellent. These dated results describe the season tested, not the present state of the sea.
